Waatcher was founded in 2015 as Nicolas helped his wife Nikki find great deals online. There were many products marked as on sales based on list price but this is very arbitrary. The true value is based on market demand and price history. Each product has a different price range depending on the category and the brand. It was very difficult to track and the price changes all the times. There were many times Nicolas missed sales because he was not available when the price dropped.
Nicolas set out to build Waatcher to track prices on Amazon. Standard deviation was used to know when the price was low. It compensates for the different price ranges for each product. An email alert system was put in place to notify when it's a great deal. The result was so successful that Nicolas invited his friends to use.
Nicolas then added product review videos from YouTube. This helped buyers make better buying decisions.
By 2016, Waatcher was tracking over ten million products with three million videos.
In 2017, Nicolas beta launched buy target for his close friends. Buy target allows buyers to set target prices and will buy the items when the prices drop below them. The beta test was so successful that about thirty percent of the products were bought with around thirty percent savings. It was around an average of ten dollars saving per item.
Waatcher now allows friends to invite friends. A friend could have full access by using a member's email address as the invitation code.
Nicolas and Nikki operate Waatcher out of our home in Tustin, California. You could reach Nicolas at nick(at)waatcher.com. We would love to get your constructive feedbacks. Please keep in mind that Waatcher doesn't sell any products we list. Please contact the store if you have any issue.
